Pushkar - a holy city

Looking for the holy in the chaos, the loudness and the unholy
Pushkar. A holy city they say.
Sacred, divine, come here to find god or the remnants of truth.
Full of temples, people come here to pray.
Walking barefoot, flowers in their plates, heads covered, bowing down their heads to idols and the images placed.
Sacred. What does it mean?
Holy
The loud sounds of the horn over the temple bells
The air filled with cigarette smoke, blocking, contaminating the incense scents
Trap, techno music, djs, drums over the temple hymns
Where can I hear, see, come in touch with god?
only in the eyes of the animals fending on the streets
in the shadows of an old tree
in the branches that have witnessed this scene
the abandoned cows
a nuisance in people's ways
how can this be holy?
where animals are discarded and nature destroyed
in loud noises where we can't hear god's voice
where there is no peace
a commercialized society, consumed in seeking thrills and highs
who is in charge of keeping the sacredness intact?
the level of consciousness of human mind
No alcohol allowed, so people bring their own
unbothered, unconcerned about anything around
dishonouring themselves and the place
I walk around questioning the reality of this world
of what humans have become
so close yet, so far from god
we can enter the temples and never meet god.
