Take me beyond myself

Updated: Dec 12, 2024

Take me beyond myself

the self that is caged

the self that is limited in it's gaze

the self that makes itself small

the self that doesn't know,

the one it calls home

the self that is separate from it's origin

the self that beliefs it's not good enough,

less than

the self that is full of doubt

because it identifies only with itself,

not the source it comes from

it's alone and in fear,

must survive

always in gear,

to run, to fight

full of shame and unworthiness

because it wasn't loved

because nobody saw god

in her eyes

like it's her fault that they were blind

she says

"they would see it if I was worthy"

in a little child, the ego-self building it's foundation

in separation

building it's walls

in that separation she goes blind to herself

only identifying with the little self she constructed

so her worth depends on how much she is loved

by the world

and in all that her spirit won't stop calling her name

she can feel that she is a prisoner in herself

her essence wants to emerge

as art it wants to explode onto the walls of this world

a fire burning inside of her

then there are fear and doubt

she's chained by the neck

she's not sure of herself

she can't take the step

it feels like death

she doesn't dare

she holds back

she hides, hoping to be found

like a treasure in lost chest

for someone to recognize what she's always felt

what she's always known

but she can't own it in herself

she wants someone else to do it for

what she can't seem to do for herself

recognize herself

so oh lord free me from myself

take me beyond myself

take me beyond myself
